Pike Event, October 18, 2025

Maldon Angling Society believes in actively supporting development of angling skills and fish care.  We often work with the Angling Coaching Initiative to teach youngsters and adults who need experienced guidance.  On October 18 we will repeat the successful pike teach in we held on Totham Pit on November 10 last year.  Details for the day are tbc but we will again team up with the Pike Angling Club. Richard Turner, our Junior Events Co-ordinator, will organise the event.

The 2024 teach-in was an open event and saw over 60 people attend, including 25 Juniors.

  • PAC experts demonstrated how to unhook a Pike correctly using a dummy Pike and everyone practiced their skills!
  • Talks on methods for fishing for Pike and how to tie traces also took place
  • Goodie bags were given out to the Juniors with a raffle ticket
  • A separate raffle also took place for the adults. 6 lucky winners shared prizes that included a Lure rod and reel combo, Lure rods and Lure bundles
  • 6 pike were caught
