Slough House West

DESCRIPTION

Around 1.5 acres in size with an island, surrounding trees and reed beds.
This is a well coloured shallow lake of around 3-4 feet deep containing Carp of all sizes but up to around 16/18lb and lots of small Roach and Rudd, Bream to around 5lb, Tench to around 4lb and the odd Perch.  This water also contains quite a large abundance of Eels up to around 3lb.

There are about 18 swims and tends to be most productive around the island, although some very good bags of Bream have come out from the open water side of the island on feeder or float tactics along with the odd Tench and Carp.
Slough House West does have a few problems water quality wise. This tends to peak during and just after wet weather and does seem to have an effect on the fishing with it becoming more difficult at these times. It is unfortunately something we can do very little about as it is historic, except to continue to monitor the water quality with the help of the EA.

Recent stockings include

320lbs of Bream (January 2021)
181lbs of mixed sized mixed silvers (January 2021)
225x Tench to 1lb 8oz (January 2022)

Access & Parking

Take the B1022 from Maldon to Colchester and just before leaving Heybridge turn right into Scraley Road. After approx. half a mile find the fishery entrance on the left hand side opposite the entrance to Slough House Farm Reservoir. Keeping the chicken sheds to your left, proceed and take the third turning on your left immediately in front of a large barn. After 50 yards, turn right to find the fishery and car parking areas. There is no defined parking area, but please park sensibly as it is a working farm and be prepared to move your vehicle if asked by the farm.
