Over a mile of untamed river with two parking areas along its length.
This stretch has produced Chub to 5lb along with Roach, Perch, Dace and Gudgeon.
The presence of Otters has made fishing here more difficult in recent years
Perfect for the roving angler.

Access & Parking
Take the B1019 from Maldon towards Hatfield Peverel. Turn right at Langford village church onto the B1018.
Access to the downstream stretch is via Wickham Hall – just over a mile from the church, turn left into Wickham Hall Lane by the red post box. The MAS parking is signed on the left hand verge. Walk down the track and skirt the farm buildings using the fenced path to the right. Turn left along the old railway line and climb at the gap to rear of buildings to join the path down to the river.
For the upstream stretch proceed for 2.5 miles from the church, after a sharp left continue on the B1018. 50 yards before the bridge, find the MAS car park on the left (Combination to the gate can be found on your membership card)
Upstream – cross the road and climb over the gate into the field – section starts from the road bridge to past the Viaduct at the end of the 2nd field (W3W outfit.breath.dare)
Downstream – use track down the side of the horses meadow – section starts from the road bridge and finishes at the big sweeping bend at the end of the horses meadow (W3W rang.pipes.rental)
