Bog Grove

Brief description of fishery:

A very well stocked, 3 acre, tree lined reservoir with 22 swims, containing Tench to 5lb+, Crucian Carp, Roach and Rudd to over 1lb, Bream to around 6lb, Perch to nearly 2lb and Carp to mid doubles. The water also contains some smaller species such as Ruffe and Gudgeon to keep the float angler guessing. Bog Grove sometimes throws up the odd Large Eel to around 5lb.

The fishery is currently being managed to become more of a mixed fishery with a range of stock to suit all anglers, which the water was before the mass introduction of Carp in the late 90’s/early 2000’s. We have had a programme of removing Carp (about 300 fish), but have left around 50 quality fish to hopefully grow to larger sizes.  With the help of the EA we have been trying to establish a Crucian Carp population as there once was years ago, and slow up the relentless breeding of small Rudd by adding Perch.

Recent stockings include

100x Juvenile Perch, 10x juvenile Crucian  Carp (February 2021)
750x Juvenile Crucian Carp, 250x juvenile Tench (January 2022)
10x Juvenile Crucian Carp, 25x juvenile Perch (February 2022)
310lb of Tench of all sizes up to 5lb (December 2022)
170x Tench 1-2lb, 175x Bream 8oz-1lb, 57lb of Juvenile Crucian Carp (January 2023)
600lb Mixed Silvers – Bream up to 1lb, Road, Rudd & Perch (January 2024)
